5 steps to take now before you open for business

You are already successful and a hard worker, but you are not completely satisfied with what you are doing and you want to try something new.  So you developed an idea for a new business.  You have done your research and fine-tuned this new idea.  You know your audience is out there and in need of help and you can help answer their questions.  Your family and friends support you and you are almost ready to launch.  An Internet business is an easy way to get started, but you need to treat this business like a serious business.

5 Simple Steps

Complete these 5 steps before you jump all in and they will be a big help when your business really takes off and you are too busy handling the fun challenges that come with growth.
  1. Determine your organizational structure.  For example, will you be solo, incorporate, or have a partner?
  2. Register your business name with your state.
  3. Apply for an Employer Identification Number at the IRS website.
  4. Open a business bank account.
  5. Track all of your income and expenses on a monthly basis.

I just started my business by writing this blog, but before I published my first post I did take the 5 steps listed below.  I wanted to put a few things in place first and get started on the right foot to prepare for the future.   I want you to get started the right way too.  While you may not need all of these things to actually start your Internet business they will all help formalize the beginning of your business.  Why not get your new business off to a great start?

I know you have thought about being an entrepreneur for a while, but you weren’t sure where to start.  These 5 steps are simple actions you can take to get started.  In many ways, these are the easiest part of starting a new business, but they may feel foreign to you.  Don’t think about it too much because you have some bigger steps to take next to start your website and begin connecting to your audience.

Taking these five steps before you “open” your Internet business will make sure you are prepared for the future.  You never know how fast your business will grow and your life is already busy enough.  Before you can blink it will be time to file your taxes and hire your first employee or a contractor to help you keep on top of your business.

It’s not too late

If you already started your Internet business and your website is up and running you can still follow these 5 steps and make sure you are ready for the future.  If you do these 5 things now you will be ready for the next big thing coming your way.  Treat this new business like a serious business and find the satisfaction in your new startup business that you are not feeling in your current job.
