We already talked about writing a business plan.  Your budget is also a plan and planning is vital to your success.  Just a simple budget for the next twelve months of operations will help you simplify your upcoming financial decisions.

The most important reason to do a budget for my business was to plan how much cash I would need to operate in my first year.  Having a budget was also extremely helpful in getting my wife to support my idea.  When you start something new you will meet many obstacles.  I needed her support and understanding the financial investment involved was paramount to gaining her support.

Budgeting is important planning

Budgeting is simply planning your revenue and expenses.  I know for most entrepreneurs the idea of budgeting is as appealing as going to the dentist.  For me it is fun, and I believe it is important for you to take the time to do it.
Create a road map of your finances for this year.  You have already developed your strategy, a marketing plan and the content you will create for your business.  Why wouldn’t you take the time to plan the finances?  Planning your finances allows you to figure out how to put some of your revenue in your pocket.

Proper planning leads to smart decisions

Entrepreneurial success is achievable with proper planning.  Take the time to make a simple budget and plan the financial side of your next year of operations.  You will have many opportunities to invest in new tools for your business and most tools will cost you money.  When you plan ahead you will find the plan helps you make faster decisions.

Entrepreneurs move fast and make quick decisions.  In your business finances you need to make good decisions that support your future goals.  Take the time to create your budget and the decision making process related to spending money will be quicker and simpler.
